Queens Park Rangers boss Jim Magilton was happy to secure the services of Arsenal youngster Jay Simpson on loan.

QPR`s striking woes have been well-documented in recent times and Magilton believes that Simpson`s introduction is mutually beneficial to both clubs and the player.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk Jim was delighted to capture one of the Premier League`s hottest prospects.

'Jay is a fine young player, who will prove to be a quality addition to the squad," he said.

'He's already shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal and during loan spells elsewhere, and we'll be looking for him to continue his progression under our guidance.

'There's no doubt he's got all the attributes to be a top, top player, but he needs games, and we're delighted we've been given the opportunity by Arsenal to provide him with a platform to showcase his ability.'

This is Simpson`s third loan spell after spells with Millwall and West Bromwich Albion, the latter in the Premier League last season.

He will go straight into the squad for Scunthorpe United at the weekend and QPR fans will be hoping he is the catalyst to spark Rangers into life this season.
