Vital QPR profiles Rangers latest addition, Jay Simpson who signed today (Thursday) on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

Name: Jay Simpson

Date of Birth: 01-12-1988 (Enfield)

Previous Clubs: Norwich City (youth), Arsenal, Millwall (L), West Bromwich Albion (L).

Appearances (Goals): 54 (8)

Jay Simpson started life with Norwich City coming up through their academy under the guidance of Roy Massey. Massey took up a new role at Arsenal and took nine-year-old Jay with him to Highbury.

At the age of 13 Simpson was already playing for the Gunners under 18s side before earning a place on the bench against West Bromwich Albion in 2006.

He has the honour of the first player to score a hatrick at the Emirates Stadium in the under 18s` 3-2 win over Cardiff City in the FA Youth Cup.

Simpson was loaned out to League One side Millwall in 2007 scoring eight goals for the Lions in 44 appearances. He was subsequently voted PFA Fans' League One Player of the Year for his performances with Kenny Jackett`s side.

He made his debut for Arsenal last season in their 6-0 Carling Cup win over Sheffield United, displaying the vast talent of Wenger`s youngsters as they easily dispatched of the full strength Championship favourites.

His first start came in the next round, and he repaid Arsene Wenger`s faith in him by netting twice in a 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium.

He was loaned out to struggling West Bromwich Albion and despite displaying great class in his performances managed to net only twice for the Baggies in the second half of the season with Tony Mowbray`s side relegated back to the Championship.
