Jim - Cup Clash Provides 'Welcome Distraction'

QPR boss Jim Magilton speaks in the build up to the Carling Cup match against local rivals Chelsea at the end of the month.

Magilton told QPR.co.uk that the cup game with Chelsea will be motivation enough for his players to perform in the coming league games, and it provides what he describes as a 'welcome distraction' from the Championship.

'This is a great draw for us and one that we'll all enjoy," said Jim.

"I know our fans are already looking forward to it, and it will provide a welcome distraction from the league campaign,

'Having said that, there's a lot of hard work to be done before we go to Stamford Bridge; we've got three very important league games against Peterborough, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City to deal with first."

Despite focusing on league football primarily Jim believes that it will be an incentive for QPR players and supporters, to ensure they`re playing the likes of Chelsea on a more regular basis next season.

'Playing against the likes of Chelsea is certainly where my lads want to be playing their football week in, week out.

'It will be nice to go there, but what's important is that we give a good account of ourselves on the day in front of the large number of QPR fans who will be backing us.'

The tie will take place the week commencing September 21, with QPR looking to dispel their previous cup game against the Blues, as a Lee Camp own goal secured a 1-0 FA Cup win for the holders.
