Lincoln City are still eyeing the appointment of a new manager with Gareth Ainsworth remaining in the frame.

Vital Lincoln are reporting that former boss Graham Taylor is being lined-up for a role at Sincil Bank.

With the club already stating that they are looking for an 'up and coming manager', it is assumed that Taylor will be in an overseeing capacity with Stuart Bimson, Gary Brabin, Gareth Ainsworth or Simon Clark favourites for the hot-seat itself.

Ainsworth has featured only once this season, in the Carling Cup demolition of Exeter City following the announcement that he is considered solely a player by the new set-up.

He has been out since then with tendonitis in his thigh, but should be available for selection against Peterborough United on Saturday. With Rangers benefiting from great strength in depth in midfield it is unlikely he will even be considered for the seven man bench.

He has the experience of guiding is through a couple of very sticky spells as caretaker, which cant have been easy. To have a spell under the guidance of someone as experienced as GT can only be of benefit to him. With the chances of a game with us near to zero then I would think he would leap at the chance if offered and I dont think anyone would wish him anything but the best. I hope he gets the job

Sounds a bit to complex for my liking. I prefer the idea of 1 man being in charge.

It would be a good move for GA. The time has come for him to move on and build his coaching/magaement career. He isn't going to be able to do that at the Loft. Thanks for all your work and effort, GA, now go out there and develop your post playing football career.

I don't know that it's quite time to hang up his boots, he still very much has the passion to succeed! Next year's masters team - GA for sure!!

Lap of Onuoha

A NEDUM Onuoha strike early in the second half saw Queens Park Rangers edge out Wigan Athletic in a fairly nondescript affair at the DW Stadium.

A game that never really got going was settled early in the second period when the Latics failed to clear a set-piece and the QPR skipper powered home from just inside the area.

Both sides created half chances but never really got out of first gear - with Grant Hall in particular a rock throughout to snuff out an endless array of Luke Garb
