Warnock Slams Eagles Defensive Woe

In the build up to tomorrow's clash against QPR, Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock gave a stark warning to his side.

The Crystal Palace manager comes off the back of a 4-0 home humbling by relegation fodder Scunthorpe United and while disappointed with his attackers he also lambasted his side's poor defensive performance.

"We would not have scored in a brothel, let us be fair on that, but that is not where our problems came from," he told the News Shopper

"It is hard for forwards when your defenders are defending like that.

"As a manger, you do not really look to point the finger at the forwards even though we had the chances but couldn`t score.

"It was the other end of the pitch that has really made it an embarrassment. I don`t think we have had a clean sheet this year and you have got to start from the back.

"It is not rocket science, we have got to defend better at the moment."

Looking ahead to tomorrow night's game against QPR the Eagles boss will be hoping his defenders can step up to the plate against one of the poorest attacks in the division.

While Rangers are getting many shots away, the most in the division, their finishing in comparison has proven poor with five goals from six games in the Championship this season.

Warnock looks set to make changes to the side that disappointed at home to the Iron at the weekend, but he does not see it as a wholesale restructure.

"The challenge is now QPR and Derby County," Warnock continued.

"I have got to do things with the players that I have got at my disposal and try and get results, nothing changes.

"I don`t think we have a lot to change, but there will be changes."

This could be the formula that Rangers have searched for, with Warnock's Eagles defending poorly and Rangers' attack looking for goals to boost their flagging confidence.

QPR may then be forced to rethink their one up front policy with Jay Simpson supported by Adel Taarabt roaming in a free role.
