Cook Leaving?

VITAL QPR reports that Rangers star Lee Cook may be leaving the club in the summer months.

'Cookie'has been in outstanding form since Gary Waddock took charge on a temporary basis and has admitted that he may be sold in the summer.

'We all know the financial situation of the football club, and if a big offer does come in for Lee Cook then money does talk,' Waddock said.

'I will not want to let him go, because he is a quality player. He will want to test himself in the Premiership one day, but the decision is in the hands of the chairman (Gianni Paladini) and the board if an offer comes in.

'However, I would like to keep the best players here so we can mount a challenge next season.'

23-year old Cook has been targeted by Sheffield Utd, Norwich City and Wolves as a potential signing and despite wanting to stay at his boyhood heroes, he may be forced to leave.

Do you really think that you'll get to the premiership?
FEn_100
Realistically at the moment no but with the club's support we can go places. Under Ollie our plan was to finish top-half this season and mount the challenge next season. We are now probably a season behind that plan so come 2007-08 we should be up there, well that's what the fans expect.

That seems a fair assessment. I'd like to know though if you think you'd have finished higher if 'Ollie' had stayed? I like him as a man, and he seemed a decent manager, but obviously, he didn't get on with the chairman.
FEn_100
I believe we would of finished much higher but that's not a criticism of Gary Waddock. It's difficult for him to come in and radically change the style of football and tactics and expect for it to work straight away. It's hard but we have to be patient. Adie Bothroyd did not set the world alight with Watford when he joined at the end of last season. I'm a great believer in giving time and consistancy. Chopping and changing again now is unlikely to help anyone.

youve got to try and hold on to players like cook to stand any chance of getting to the prem
vertigo_red
True, every knows that. Whatever team you are you need to hold onto your best players. But if selling means helping the club move forward I guess that's what we have to do. But Cook is our most prized player at the moment. He's the one player to liven games up and actually create scoring chances. Marc Bircham was right though. In January we rejected advances from Sheffield Utd because our financial plight was 'OK' and now suddenly we have to start selling? It doesn't make any sense to me, unless Paladini was dreaming of a playoff spot this season?
