Queens Park Rangers defender Kaspars Gorkšs previews Rangers midweek clash to West London rivals Chelsea.
The Latvian international looked forward to the game against Premier League opposition having missed out against Manchester United and Aston Villa last season under Iain Dowie.
Since then he has proven himself to be arguably the best defender at the club, playing a key role in Rangers numerous shut-outs last season.
He spoke to the Latvian media today indicating that he hopes to keep his place after a competent display against Cardiff City at the weekend.
"I hope that I will play," Gorkšs told Sportacentrs.com.
"I played against Cardiff in such a way that there is no reason to throw me out of squad. I cross my fingers that I will play against Chelsea."
When asked about any pre-match nerves that he may be suffering Gorkšs was adamant in his response, despite conceding that butterflies may appear closer to kick off: "I have no reason to be nervous. Maybe it will appear some hours before the match."
Gorkšs also took the time to speak about QPR's current league form and the tremendous victory against Cardiff City at the weekend.
He believed that QPR's ambitions of a top-six finish hasn't been quelled despite a slow start to life in the Coca Cola Championship.
"We started the season slowly, but maybe it is better to start slowly whether finish slowly," continued Kaspars.
"Now we have won in Cardiff hopefully we will catch them.
"We have only one loss in seven games but the problem is many draws. Hopefully there will be more wins will come."
Queens Park Rangers take on Chelsea on Wednesday night before an important home game against Barnsley on Saturday.
