Russell Booth from Nottinghamshire will be the man in charge as QPR host Preston North End this weekend.

Starting out on his refereeing journey in Mansfield, Mr Booth progressed to the National List of Assistant Referees in 1998, before joining the Select Group a year later.

He became a National List referee in 2004 and is plying his trade predominantly in the Championship and League One in recent seasons.

This weekend's test will be Booth's sixth Championship game of the season and 13th overall. He recently took charge of Stockport County's victory over Tranmere Rovers live on Sky, dishing out a red card for Rovers keeper Luke Daniels.

Refereeing Rangers

Mr Booth has taken charge of a solitary QPR fixture in the past, a victory over Championship new-boys Barnsley in 2006.

Martin Rowlands struck the only goal of the game in the 15th minute as his shot crept under Tykes keeper Nick Colgan in a scrappy affair in W12.

Booth dished out four yellows on the day with goalscorer Rowlands, Ray Jones and Jimmy Smith all cautioned for the R's.
