Derby County boss Nigel Clough was quick to praise QPR for their ability to score goals at crucial times in the game.

The Rams were two goals to the good and seemingly looking to keep it tight going into the break before a powerful free-kick from Adel Taarabt reduced the deficit.

After half time QPR ran riot with three second half goals from Gavin Mahon, Jay Simpson and Ákos Buzsáky, goals that Clough believes were scored a crucial times.

He told the BBC: 'There were two critical things; conceding just before half-time and then again in the 46th minute.

'When we were 2-0 up it was important that we got to half-time and then kept it tight for 10 minutes in the second half, but we could do neither.

'I thought QPR played extremely well. You saw a side full of confidence, who have scored four goals in each of their last three games, and everyone wanted the ball.'

Clough needs to rally his demotivated troops for the trip to winless Ipswich Town, with the crowd some way from being convinced after booing them from the pitch at Pride Park.

QPR meanwhile can point to 12 goals in three games as further credentials in their playoff charge, which continues to gather pace by the game.
