Jay Happy To Choose QPR Over West Brom

In-form striker Jay Simpson has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to re-join West Bromwich Albion in favour of QPR.

The Arsenal loanee spoke to The Mirror today and told of his delight at playing in West London during such a prosperous time.

Simpson revealed to the paper that Arsene Wenger knew of his desire for regular first team football, and QPR represented the ideal opportunity.

'I know Arsenal are watching and I have enjoyed it at QPR, it has been good,' Jay said.

'I am really enjoying playing for Jim Magilton and John Gorman.

'As long as the team is scoring lots of goals you know you are going to get at least one opportunity in the game.

'So I go into the games believing I am going to score in every match right now even though on occasions I play upfront by myself.

'If we can continue our run of form hopefully we can get promoted.'

Simpson scored twice for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League last season, but in truth never settled at the Hawthornes during his brief spell.

While he had the opportunity to re-sign for the Baggies he elected for Queens Park Rangers because of what he described as 'politics.'

'West Brom wanted me back but I didn't feel it was the right choice for me,' he continued.

'My time there taught me the politics that come with football and made it difficult for the team to play well - especially as we were bottom of the table.'

Simpson has scored six times this season already, opening his account with a brace against Cardiff City, with three in the last three against Preston, Reading and Derby County.

He is set to start tomorrow night as Rangers take on Leicester City live on Sky, a chance to show present employers Arsenal his capabilities and West Brom what they've missed out on.

He didn't score any goals for WBA in the prem last season. Only one goal in the league cup against Peterborough.

Two goals - for a striker put out on the wing that isn't so bad in my book. I speak to a West Brom fan regularly who seemed to rate the lad and didn't like the way supporters got on his back. Still though you're obviously better off with the likes of Reuben Reid and Simon Cox... hmmmm.
