Helguson Strikes - Loan Update

Vital QPR takes a look at the QPR players plying their trade away from Loftus Road.

Rangers forward Heidar Helguson made his first start for Watford in four-and-a-half years as they set about the task of getting back to winning ways against Preston.

Helguson didn't have to wait long for his third goal in as many games since rejoining Watford on loan, latching onto a right-wing cross to dispatch an excellent looping header.

The composure of the Icelandic international was evident as he eased the ball over Andy Lonergan and into the top right hand corner.

The Hornets doubled the lead when another loanee, Manchester United man Tom Cleverley, dispatched past Lonergan with aplomb.

Heidar was booked shortly before half time before being replaced by reported target Nathan Ellington shortly after the 70 minute mark.

Joe Oastler was sidelined with Swine Flu as his Salisbury side were charged with going to Accrington and causing a cup shock.

Lee Brown did take his place in the starting line-up at full-back after the Whites overcame Zamaretto Premier side Farnborough without his presence owing to suspension.

Jimmy Ryan settled any Accrington nerves with a 19th minute effort, before Michael Symes doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark.

Whites striker Matt Tubbs halved the deficit after the hour mark as Salisbury looked to force a replay but the equaliser wasn't forthcoming and Brown was replaced on 84 minutes.

Antonio German didn't come from the bench in Aldershot Town's home victory over Bury in the FA Cup as the Shots sewed up the game in the first half.

Louie Soares and former QPR midfielder Scott Donnelly scored the necessary goals to knock the Shakers out of the cup and put the Shots into the hat for round two.
