Heaton Loan Expires

Tom Heaton has seen his last opportunity to play for Queens Park Rangers pass him by as his loan is poised to expire.

The Manchester United 'keeper penned a three month loan deal with Rangers prior to the Plymouth Argyle game on August 15.

With the international break coming before the next fixture against Doncaster Rovers, Heaton has seen his final opportunity pass by.

Rangers cannot extend the loan deal until January, but can take out a new emergency loan deal that would see him to the end of 2009.

Heaton showed well in his two appearances for the R's, both coming in the Carling Cup in very different circumstances.

The 'keeper played in Rangers slender win at home to Accrington Stanley in what was a dour fixture at Loftus Road for the stopper's debut.

He was given the honour of starting at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea as Rangers were edged out by their Premier League neighbours, making some excellent saves from Joe Cole and Salomon Kalou.

Heaton recently expressed his happiness at Loftus Road despite his frustration at not starting as many games as he'd have hoped.

On Monday October 5, he told manutd.com: 'QPR is a very good club.

'I get on with all the players and the staff have been excellent. It's been a touch frustrating to have played just two games, but that's football sometimes.

'You have to be patient but Radek Cerny has done very well to be fair. I accept that and I just have to keep striving to be in the team. Obviously I'm hopeful that at some point I'll be in there.'

Rangers may now have to rely on youngsters Elvijs Putniņš and Nik-Lee Bulmer to fill the void potentially left by the Manchester United loanee.
