Jim Magilton has admitted while it is a blow to lose the services of Tom Heaton, he will try and do business with Manchester United in January.
Tom Heaton`s loan expired after the Sheffield Wednesday game, and as loans cannot be renewed during this period, he will return to Old Trafford.
The stopper made two appearances for QPR, both in the Carling Cup against Accrington Stanley and Chelsea, and looked competent in both fixtures.
Manager Magilton spoke to QPR.co.uk highlighting an important role that Heaton played, and his immense professionalism throughout.
'Tom has been outstanding for us from the day he walked into the club,' said Jim.
'He's a first class pro and sets the standards by which the others follow.
'Being a number two is tough, but he's never moaned or groaned and has applied himself superbly."
Jim went on to praise the keeper for his efforts during the cup clash with Chelsea, believing him to be the best player on the pitch on that occasion.
The manager stated that he would be looking to put together a package to bring Heaton back to QPR in January, whether that is loan or permanent remains to be seen.
Jim continued: 'We're quite hopeful that we will be able to do something in January and I'll be doing everything within my power to push it through
'He's left an unbelievable impression with both myself, the staff and the players and we'd love to have him back here.
'If we can get him back in January, we'll have two of the best keepers in the division on our books and we'll have no hesitation in throwing him in.'
The former England Under 21 international has also had loan spells with Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp and Cardiff City.
