Adel Features In Morocco Defeat

Queens Park Rangers loanee Adel Taarabt played the entire fixture as Morocco went down at home to league leaders Cameroon.

Taarabt`s Morocco were second best, as they have been throughout the qualifying campaign as goals from Achille Webo and Samuel Eto`o saw Cameroon into the World Cup.

The Group A winners managed to fend off second-placed Gabon to reach the finals for an African record six times.

Morocco meanwhile propped up the group with no wins from their six games and a mere three points, suffice to say Adel Taarabt will not being on the plane to South Africa.

Ákos Buzsáky started for Hungary who went a goal down early on courtesy of Everton`s Marouane Fellaini.

Buzsáky was taken off at half time and further goals from Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen and a penalty from Kevin Mirallas secured a thumping home win in Gent.

Kaspars Gorkss meanwhile was allowed to remain in England as Latvia travelled to Honduras in a friendly fixture.

Coach Aleksandrs Starkovs has allowed a few of the higher profile players to remain with their clubs as he looks to build a squad for the next qualifying campaign.

Former Birmingham City front-man Carlos Costly opened the scoring for Honduras before Vladimirs Kolesnicenko equalised from the spot.

It mattered not as Georgie Welcome struck five minutes from time to win the fixture after Dzintars Zirnis had been sent off for the visitors.

Heidar Helguson wasn`t selected in the Iceland squad that could only draw away at Luxembourg.

Barnsley`s Emil Halfredsson scored Iceland`s only goal of the day as Kim Kintziger equalised in the second half for the hosts.
