Rovers Reid is a Ranger now

QPR have officially announced the arrival of midfielder Steven Reid from Blackburn on an emergency one month loan subject to Football League approval. The midfielder has failed to break into Sam Allardyce's Premier League side since returning from a serious knee injury and is keen to get some regular first-team football

Jim Magilton has said of his new acquisition "He is a class act. He can pass, tackle and shoot. He is a very very good box to box player."

Rovers manager Sam Allardyce said "It was Steven's decision. He said he fancied it and wanted to get a few games under his belt."

New boy Reid said of the move" It`s a very good squad here. They are doing well in the league and I hope I can add to that so we can keep our place in the play offs and maybe kick on."

Steven Reid was born in March 1981 in Kingston, London.
He joined Millwall following a successful trial at under 11 level and made is debut for the first team at 17 and was part of the promotion winning team in 2001.

He made a £1.85 million move to Blackburn in 2003 nad had a mixed debut for the Rovers. Coming on as a 76th minute sub he received his marching orders only 12 minutes later.

Recent years have not been kind to the midfielder and a back injury followed by cruciate ligament injury forced him to miss most of the 2006/7 season and he missed the whole of the 2008/9 season due to a knee injury.

Despite representing England at junior levels reid opted to play full international football for the Republic of Ireland and was part of the 2002 World Cup squad. He has captained his adopted nation on 1 occasion against Holland in a friendly.
