Coventry In Hot Water

Coventry City are in hot water with the FA after their lack of discipline at Loftus Road this weekend.

The Sky Blues have already picked up an automatic £7,500 fine for six bookings in W12, two of which were for full back Stephen Wright.

The former Sunderland defender picked up his second red card in two seasons at Loftus Road, as Chris Coleman's side battled for a point.

A key issue surrounding the sending off was Wright's petulant showing of removing his captain's armband and throwing it at official Mr Jones.

The offence labelled in the laws as 'technical assault,' was spotted by fourth official Paul Taylor and the majority of the Loftus Road crowd.

Chris Coleman was surprised at his captain's conduct, especially given that he had taken off a less experienced player in Patrick van Aanholt after his initial yellow.

He also inferred that the QPR crowd were influential in seeing 'keeper Keiren Westwood go into the book, heckling and jeering every wasted moment by the Irish international.

There can be no question that the Sky Blues deployed time-wasting tactics in W12, and few could blame them given the direction of the fixture.

However, comments that supporters were influential in his caution were rather misguided given the haste with which the goalkeeper would retrieve the ball once Coventry were behind.
