Gareth Ainsworth will be out for Wycombe's weekend's fixture with Stockport County owing to a calf injury.

The 36-year-old winger has hit the ground running at Adams Park, impressing the manager and supporters alike in his brief spell.

Ainsworth missed the midweek trip to Southampton however, and he is now forced to sit out once again as the Chairboys face the Hatters in a crucial six-pointer.

Manager Gary Waddock told This is London that it is a bitter pill to swallow, especially given the amount of injuries in the Wycombe squad at present.

"It's something we will have to cope with and manage,' he said.

'We don't know how long he will be out for but it is a headache.

"We`ve got him until December 20 and I`m hoping he will be back before that runs out.'

The former QPR manager was quick to praise the attributes that Ainsworth possesses and believes that he can bounce back from this set-back.

He continued: "He`s played a big part in our improvement. His ability, his experience his enthusiasm and fight has rubbed off on the others.

"It`s a blow, but there is nothing we can do about it. It is part and parcel of football and Saturday will be too early for him.

"It`s tough for him because he wants to play and that`s the whole reason why he`s come here.'

Ainsworth has played twice for Wycombe in victories over Millwall and Brentford - results that have breathed life into the Chairboys' safety hopes.
