Helguson Starts - Loan Update

Vital QPR takes a look at the Rangers players plying their trade way from W12.

Watford came into proceedings against Nottingham Forest with back to back defeats against Derby County and Peterborough United, and were looking for some festive cheer against the Reds.

Forward Heidar Helguson started for the penultimate time for Watford as his loan spell is poised to come to an end on Monday.

He was partnered by Danny Graham as the Hornets looked to bounce back from their recent disappointment. The visitors however were looking to extend a fine run of form.

In a fairly even encounter at Vicarage Road neither side could really force the issue, and Helguson had to tread carefully after a booking inside the opening 15 minutes.

The game ended in a stalemate despite the best intentions of Dexter Blackstock, who drew and excellent save from home 'keeper Scott Loach.

Meanwhile Hogan Ephraim was omitted from the Leeds United squad that faced Hartlepool at home, and the fixture didn't get off to the best start for the Whites.

Ármann Björnsson struck the visitors into a shock early lead, but parity was restored by a Jermaine Beckford strike just after the half hour mark.

Pool couldn't hold out to half time as Luciano Becchio netted to put the hosts in front, before Beckford doubled his tally in the second half to put the game beyond the visitors' reach.

Joe Oastler and Lee Brown have now returned to QPR from Salisbury City - meaning that to name three substitutes manager Tommy Widdrington had to name himself on the bench.

The transfer embargo at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium means that they will no longer be able to receive the defensive duo on loan in the new year.
