Midfielder Pens Deal

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Mikele Leigertwood has put pen to paper on a new deal at Loftus Road.

The midfielder that was signed from Sheffield United under John Gregory in 2007, has penned a new two-and-a-half year deal keeping him at Loftus Road until the summer of 2012.

He told QPR.co.ukthat he was happy to extend his stay: 'I've really enjoyed my two and a half years here so far and I'm really pleased to be extending my stay with the Club.'

Leigertwood locks horns with his former club, Sheffield United tomorrow night, and he will be looking for a repeat performance from the previous clash in W12 between the two sides.

Mikele scored the opening goal of the game from distance to set Paul Hart's R's on their way - they were eventually pegged back by Richard Cresswell on the stroke of half time.

The midfielder stated the importance of seeing a bumper crowd tomorrow night, with the R's still searching for their first FA Cup win since 2001.

He said: 'We'll need the fans in full voice.

'They've followed us up and down the country, come rain or shine, so far this season and although it's going to be another cold evening on Tuesday, we'd love to be backed by as big a crowd as possible.

'The Rangers fans can be our twelfth man when they're in top form, so hopefully they can cheer us on to a victory and a place in round four.'

The previous game saw Jay Simpson strike first for Rangers at Bramall Lane after good work from Wayne Routledge, before Cresswell once again thwarted the R's and forced a replay.
