Harmful Expectations Hinder QPR

Paul Hart has admitted that the club's expectations have been a significant drawback as he looks to achieve an FA Cup win tonight.

Hart has been at the club less than a month, but has already attracted his share of criticism from sections of Rangers supporters owing to his style of play and tactics.

The former Portsmouth man has admitted he would like to dip into the transfer market to improve the squad but doesn't expect his coffers to be over-flowing over the course of the month.

Speaking to the Evening Standard the R's boss also stated that the expectations of the club have been counter-productive in recent seasons as he looks to rebuild his squad.

"The owners actually run a pretty tight ship,' he said.

'There won't be pots of money to spend in the January transfer window and nor would I expect there to be, although I will be looking to strengthen the squad.

"But when millionaires and billionaires take over at a club, that raises expectations and I think that may have been quite harmful here.

"This club has been a Premier League side in the past and it can be again, there's no question about that."

Several targets have emerged in recent weeks with Carl Ikeme his only introduction in the short-term as Rangers look to purchase cover for Radek Cerny.

Jamie Ashdown is rumoured to be that man along with other targets, Daniel Cousin, Nigel Quashie and the rekindled target of Dave Kitson.

Expectations will once again be high this evening as Rangers look to taste their first win in the FA Cup since beating Luton Town in 2001.
