Kaspars Relishing Pool Return

Rangers defender Kaspars Gorkšs is relishing the prospect of facing his former side this afternoon.

The Latvian international penned a deal with Blackpool in 2007, and after a successful spell at Bloomfield Road was arousing the interest of the Championship's finest.

Queens Park Rangers managed to capture the defender in a Ł250,000 deal, and has since made 51 appearances for the R's.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette Gorkšs revealed that he was looking forward to returning to Bloomfield Road but expects a tougher test.

'It was a good trip back last year but it's going to be a difficult game this time,' he said.

'The reception I got wasn't too bad last time. I probably expected a few more boos.

'The first time you go back to your old club stays in your memory because I spent some good times there.'

Gorkšs made 51 appearances for the Tangerines as they secured their Championship safety under boss Simon Grayson.

Last year he returned to Bloomfield Road and played in a useful 3-0 win that saw Heidar Helguson bag a brace and Hogan Ephraim round off the scoring.

Gorkšs continued: 'Playing against your mates is different than any normal game. I gave them stick after last season's result and will have a bit of banter with them before this game.

'Ben Burgess is my best friend there. I'll probably be marking him, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll give him a kick if I need to!'

Kaspars has since established himself as a first team regular at Loftus Road and was recently voted Latvian Footballer of the Year.
