Queens Park Rangers boss Mick Harford has heaped praise on young forward Antonio German following his performance today.

The 18-year-old forward belied his youth to slam home an early effort from close range, before having a big hand in the second and generally performing admirably throughout the fixture.

Mick told QPR.co.uk that the young forward fully deserved his billing as man of the match following the win today.

'I thought Antonio German was the best player on the pitch,' said Harford.

'He made his debut and deserved it because he's worked so hard on the training ground.

'If you give someone a chance the fans will back them, I thought he was fantastic today.

'I was so happy for him, he's got to continue to work hard ahead of what should be a good and long career I hope. But if he can put on performances like that he's got a bright future.'

In what may have been Mick Harford's last game in charge of the R's his players gave him the perfect tonic after a torrid recent spell.

Goals from German and Jay Simpson helped secure the 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers today, to mark the dawn of a new era at Loftus Road under the Mittal family.

Indeed Amit Bhatia's happiness was evident at the end of the game as Rangers continue their fight away from the relegation places.

Mick believed it was a performance and result that has been coming, as in his words his Rangers side finally got the breaks they deserved.

He added: 'I thought today that the players showed fantastic attitude along with the ability that they've got against what are a very good Doncaster team, who play their football in the right way.

'We stopped them playing and imposed ourselves, we deserved the win.'

Rangers now travel to Middlesbrough next Saturday in a bid to dispel their home thrashing by recently-relegated Boro.

Quite who will take charge of the fixture is open to debate with movement expected in the managerial hot-seat this week.
