Warnock Targets Safety

After completing his first day as manager of QPR, Neil Warnock believed that Rangers have more than enough about them to stay in the division.

Warnock was appointed to the R's hot-seat yesterday after Rangers agreed a compensation deal with Crystal Palace, and completed his first day's training today.

Alongside fellow coaches Keith Curle and Mick Jones, Warnock had an opportunity to assess his players and is pleased with the current crop at QPR.

He told Sky Sports that after an eventful day he has just one target in mind - keeping Rangers in the Championship.

'It's been a busy day,' said Warnock.

'Obviously we've got to get things tidied up. But it's been a good day and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

'Maybe I'm a different type of manager than they're used to - but they've got ability here let's hope they can channel it in the right direction.

'Both squads [Palace and QPR] are good enough to stay up. That's what my brief is here.'

Regarding this morning's bizarre announcement that Palace didn't think the deal was complete, Warnock believed it was an error at Selhurst Park.

He added: I think it came out on Palace's website first but it shouldn`t have done but everything's sorted now there's no problem.'

Warnock will take charge of his first QPR game this weekend as the R's host high-fliers West Bromwich Albion - and former midfielder Ben Watson.
