Neil Warnock today spoke of his delight that QPR's future status as a Championship Club has at last been assured - after several months of doubt following the debacle that followed the so-called 'Head-butt'-gate saga of December 2009.

Warnock's initial brief had been to ensure QPR retained their Championship position this year, and this was duly achieved thanks to the Sheffield derby 1-1 draw yesterday afternoon.

He told the QPR official site:'Safety was the first objective when we arrived here. We've reached that and I'm delighted.'

But he also admitted that this wasn't anything really to be proud of: 'Let's be perfectly honest, it's not exactly something to celebrate.

'We should be competing towards the top end of this division with the players we've have

'But it's been a season of upheaval for one reason or anther and now we can look torwards next season knowing our Championship status is assured,' Warnock concluded.

In his post-Cardiff press conference, Warnock spoke about looking towards the future and reiterated his desire to blood some of the youngsters once we were guaranteed safety. I will be hoping this new policy will take effect from tomorrow night's home game against Watford!

Warnock also reconfirmed his excitement for next year, advising the Cardiff management that they had better go up this season because: 'next year will be a different ball game. We'll have players who can score goals!'

Warnock was talking about players' desires throughout his press conference. Even though he thought we'd done very well and out-played Cardiff, he never felt we looked like scoring because 'there's nobody who want to get their head hurt!'

He made a similar observation regarding the large number of loan players currently at the Club. He does expect most of these loanees to return to their parent Clubs at the end of this season for starters! 'I would be very surprised if I've got more than one loan player at any time next season,' Warnock vowed.

'It means I haven't done my job or I've been a bit unlucky in the summer because I don't want loan players,' he admitted.

He knows that our current players are trying their best 'in their own way'; but he doesn't feel they have the same desire or commitment towards our Club as those who are full-time. Personally, I agree!

'You've got to have the shirt and the heart and everything,' Warnock said. But he wants more than just doing their best - so say we all!
