Warnock Cites Clarke Potential

Neil Warnock was quick to highlight the vast potential of new signing Leon Clark - indicating that he was a key target in his hit-list

It hasn't taken the R's boss long to stamp his authority on his side as two signings in quick succession have seen a pair of centre forwards join the club.

Jamie Mackie has quickly been followed into the club by former loanee Leon Clarke, who has a second chance to impress the Rangers faithful.

Warnock believes that the potential Clarke has saw him go close to signing him earlier this season - and this is a signing that is in his words 'worth a gamble.'

'I think his career is at a crossroads and only time will tell if I'm the Manager who can unleash what I believe is inside him as a player,' he told QPR.co.uk

'I tried to sign him earlier this season, but Alan Irvine wouldn't let him go at the time.

'I've always thought he had the talent to push on as a player though.

'He's strong and quick and will upset defences - I genuinely believe he's worth a gamble.'

Warnock added: 'Some people will be surprised at this signing, but he's a player I've fancied for a very long while and I'm delighted we've got him on board.'

A boss who has a history of making underachieving players into winners, Warnock will undoubtedly raise a few eyebrows with this capture.

Nevertheless it will be results and not names that matter come the reckoning a year today, and unlocking the potential in Clarke could be the key to success.
