PREVIEW

Despite a good showing in previous seasons, Tykes boss Simon Davey paid for a succession of poor results with his job as Barnsley sat at the foot of the Championship.

The transformation under former Rotherham United manager Mark Robins was evident despite a heavy defeat at the hands of Jim Magilton's QPR.

Robins managed to steer the Tykes to 18th place with 54 points, but they were hit hard by the news that top scorer Daniel Bogdanovic would defect to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

The addition of Derby County flop Liam Dickinson could be constituted as his replacement but Robins has a lot more work to do if he is to keep Barnsley afloat once more.

Prediction: 23

The Tykes need some serious investment in the squad if they are to stay up in what could prove to be a keenly fought division this season.

The loss of Daniel Bogdanovic and Hugo Colace could be key as their ambition this season shouldn't stem beyond battling against the drop.

They have a talented manager and should he not receive the funds required to help keep the Tykes in the Championship the vultures may circle for Mark Robins.

This article is wrong. Marks robbins has got rid of the inconsitent players. Which he has already made 4 signings not 1 to replace them and then mceveley from derby who should be joining within the next few days will make it 5. Robbins has also stated that he wants to bring in atelast 5-6 more players before the season starts in which the chairman has said he will have full backing for. Loosing boggy and colace might be a little bit a blow but we are not going to offer stupid money like other clubs have for average and replaceable palyers. Please do a little more research before writing your article please.

Nowhere does the article say that the 3 other signings were not made. The article does not suggest that your manager has not received the chairman's backing, it simply points out that if it is not received the manager may struggle. Please re-read an article before making comments stating 'the article is wrong', please.
