PREVIEW

After an initial whirlwind start in the top flight, including the scalp of Manchester United, Owen Coyle's departure sewed the seeds of doubt among the Clarets squad.

With the Scotsman being replaced by Brian Laws - a rather uninspiring choice for many - the Clarets embarked on a run that saw them relegated back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

There were some isolated positive performances as outlined above, but the writing appeared to be on the wall when the squad wasn't bolstered sufficiently in January.

They must now take a squad of what are experienced Championship players into the fight for promotion and attempt to bounce back at the first opportunity.

Prediction: 3

Burnley have a squad brimming with Championship talent, and they don't seem content with resting on their laurels in this transfer market.

The addition of Chris Iwelumo in particular is positive with his proven recent prowess at this level, and Burnley could be set to challenge the higher echelons.

A third place finish - or even automatic - is by no means beyond the reach of the Clarets, providing Laws can manage the club more effectively than in previous campaigns.

We will be tested fully on Saturday against a QPR side that must be full of confidence. The team to catch, It will not be easy, but As a Burnley fan I believe we can even after our 4-0 tonking against an average Reading team. All the best for the rest of the season after Saturday.

Lap of Onuoha

A NEDUM Onuoha strike early in the second half saw Queens Park Rangers edge out Wigan Athletic in a fairly nondescript affair at the DW Stadium.

A game that never really got going was settled early in the second period when the Latics failed to clear a set-piece and the QPR skipper powered home from just inside the area.

Both sides created half chances but never really got out of first gear - with Grant Hall in particular a rock throughout to snuff out an endless array of Luke Garb
