PREVIEW

Reading had the season of two halves last time out, with Brendan Rodgers proving a dramatic flop in attempting to succeed Steve Coppell, attempting to change the Royals style of play.

In Brian McDermott Reading had a caretaker that hit the ground running, and reverted back to Coppell's familiar and more effective style of play of no-frills 'winning football'.

The cup victory over Liverpool will live long in the memory for Royals fans, and now they must take the same gusto and vigour into the new campaign and maintain their form.

Prediction: 7

If Reading were to maintain the same level of form and style of play it's quite possible that they will be in the fight for the playoffs, despite a perceived lack of investment.

It may well depend on how much longer John Madejski continues to supply the squad with money, but there is a very real chance that if he does - the Royals will be there and there abouts.

The form of Jimmy Kebe and Jobi McAnuff will be key and they are two talents that Reading must keep if they are to challenge.
