PREVIEW

The Iron performed phenomenally well last campaign under Nigel Adkins and managed to maintain their Championship status at the second time of asking.

The Iron's excellent home form was the key as Adkins proved once again to be one of the better crop of England's young managers - and Scunthorpe have managed to stave off interest in the summer.

It will be this form at Glanford Park that will be key once more if Scunthorpe are to once again battle the drop, and this will be their expectation coming into the campaign.

Prediction: 24

It's difficult to look beyond Scunthorpe this season for the drop, with the sale of Gary Hooper set to hit them hard as he struck 20 goals for them last time out.

The untried and tested duo of Bobby Grant and Chris Dagnall will make for interesting viewing, but whether they have the pedigree to succeed at this level remains to be seen.

If the Iron can keep hold of Adkins they may well avoid the drop, but I would expect the club to find it difficult to keep others at bay as the heads roll this season.
