Warnock`s Number One Target

Vital QPR - Breaking News

Commenting to local radio BBC London Sport yesterday, after seeing his team beat Sheffield United 3-0 at Brammall Lane, Neil Warnock dangled a very enticing carrot at the QPR fans - the possibility of a striker being signed this week.

Discussing the previous 90 minutes, Warnock described the performance as professional and admitted that he didn`t expect us not to have one or two little scares, as we did in the second half, because Brammall Lane is a tough place to come, after all.

Warnock was buzzing when discussing Adel Taarabt`s performance, which was, once again, sterling. He admitted that the squad have had to accept Taarabt for himself, taking into consideration his good things and his bad things" . Warnock confessed that: "If you talk about his bad things you would never pick him!

"We tend to work on what he is good at. Today you saw a performance for an hour of quality and he just gives us that little bit of a lift."

But the most important comment Warnock had to make was regarding the make-up of the squad. If Warnock is to be believed, we should seeing a new face at Loftus Road as early as this week.

We`re nowhere near the finished article," he admitted, in referring to our great start to the season. But when asked if it was true that Luke Varney would be joining us, Warnock enigmatically replied:

"It was a name mentioned. I spoke to a number and you`ll just have to watch this space.

"I`ve had a number one target that I`ve wanted since the last day of last season. I`ve been waiting and patient. I`m hoping that we can come up with a situation where we can sign him and then I`ll be absolutely delighted. We should know more in the next three or four days."

So - there you have it - the manager`s words - verbatim - straight from a radio interview. Can`t be misinterpreted - you can even listen to him yourself! Who can it be? Well, like Warnock says - watch this space!
