Will Sousa Be Brought To Book?

Paulo Sousa's tirade against referee Graham Scott claimed that the referee had been dishonest in his officiating - will the FA act?

The ex-QPR boss has had no shortage of run-ins with Neil Warnock in his brief stint in England, but this latest defeat to the R's gaffer has seemingly pushed him over the edge.

Graham Scott - a young official from Oxfordshire - missed what could have been a penalty for the hosts, as Rangers claimed a 2-0 victory at the Walkers Stadium.

'I am fighting all the time for honesty and the referee, when he was asked if he saw certain things, he said completely 'No',' Sousa said speaking of the incident.

'But in the video he is two metres from there and looking right at the situation. Everybody can make mistakes, but honesty is something you either have or not.'

The disappointment resonated in his post-match words, having seen a well-organised QPR triumph with two goals from Jamie Mackie.

While it wasn't vintage from Rangers it was certainly hard-fought, with Leicester getting very few openings to test stopper Paddy Kenny.

'We don't know how to win battles in that way,' he said in relation to Rangers' performance, a form of back-handed compliment that was met with grace by boss Neil Warnock.

A natural born winner, it seems that Sousa has attempted to deflect attention from a side that couldn't break down the resolute league-leaders.

That is of course not to take any credit away from City's performance, with the Foxes the toughest opposition QPR have faced to date, but that will unfortunately be over-shadowed.

Surely now the FA must act - it is one thing to question the referee's technical aspect of the game, but to question his honest and integrity must see Sousa receive his punishment.

Too true - the FA have been quick to charge Wenger who was incensed at the extra 60 seconds played in the Gunner's late-Saturday-evening match at the weekend - resulting in Arsenal conceding a last-gasp equaliser. Wenger has been brought to book and his punishment is, amongst other things, a one-match touchline ban which he serves tonight as Arsenal go to Tottenham in the Carling Cup. De Sousa should also be brought to book - his comments were ridiculous and inflammatory - he was so hacked off at our "battling qualities" - which his team don't possess - and blamed all & sundry, including the ref, other than himself & his coaching team for his side's inability to beat us . . . Disgraceful :-(

He should be charged but somehow, I doubt if he will be. A little bit too small a fry for the FA to bother with.
