Key Player:

Liam Lawrence: The dynamic midfielder has been arguably Pompey`s best player this season which isn`t the hardest of tasks given the sheer size of their squad. The former Stoke City man has been in excellent form this season scoring 6 goals in 12 appearances. The Irish international has been the driving force behind Portsmouth`s ascent up the table. Lawrence started his career at Mansfield making 135 appearances and scored 35 goals before then Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy signed Lawrence in a deal worth 175,000. Lawrence made 73 appearances for the Black Cats scoring 10 times before moving to Stoke on loan and after impressing The Potters made the deal permanent for 500,000. He represented Stoke 105 times and scored 21 goals before joining Portsmouth this summer on an emergency loan after his proposed transfer was not completed before the deadline.
