Crystal Palace boss George Burley has admitted that he would like to sign Queens Park Rangers midfielder Martin Rowlands.

The Republic of Ireland international is the currently the longest serving player in W12, but his days at Loftus Road could be numbered.

Neil Warnock has previously admitted his desire to send the midfielder out on loan and this has alerted Crystal Palace manager George Burley.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: 'Martin Rowlands is a quality player and I did speak to Neil about him before the deadline, he could be one we go back to.

'He's certainly the type of player we are looking for. He's proven and experienced at this level.

'We have a lot of young players and we're looking for them to push on, but it's a tough division and it's important to have some older heads in there as well.'

31-year-old Rowlands may fit the bill for struggling Crystal Palace having made just under 200 appearances for QPR in an injury-stricken spell.

Rowlands has had a succession of knee injuries in recent seasons that has blighted his progress under Warnock, and getting to match fitness with be Rowlands' key priority.
