Chris Foy from Merseyside will take charge of QPR's away trip to recently-relegated Burnley this weekend.

Foy became an official on the National List of referees in 1996 before his eventual promotion to the Select List in 2001

He has taken charge of Rangers 13 times previously, only three of which have ended in defeats as he prepares to oversee another tough clash for QPR.

Thus far this season he has taken charge of 18 games, dishing out 43 yellows but no red cards - that gives him a card average of 2.39 cards per game.

Against Burnley he will be assisted by Trevor Massey (Cheshire) and William Smallwood (Cheshire), with the fourth official Robert Lewis (Shropshire).

Refereeing Rangers

Mr Foy saw Rangers pick up a narrow win at Gresty Road as early goals from Danny Maddix and John Spencer were added to by Trevor Sinclair, Crewe fought back through Kenny Lunt and Dele Adebola, but it was to no avail.

In February 1998 Mr Foy saw Iain Dowie hand the R's the lead against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthornes, only to be pegged back by prolific striker Lee Hughes, while what was to become a familiar face handed Bradford the lead at Valley Parade. Rob Steiner scored for the Bantams prior to his move to W12, with Kevin Gallen netting the equaliser.

Mr Foy gave Ian Baraclough his marching order in the following season as he gave away a penalty, which Rangers nemesis and then Sunderland forward Kevin Phillips duly dispatched. Later that season Mr Foy presided over another disappointing 1-0 defeat this time at the hands of Grimsby Town - Jack Lester netting for the Mariners on that occasion.

Quick-fire strikes from Stuart Wardley and Chris Kiwomya set the R's up for a 2-1 win over Walsall at Loftus Road, striker Michael Ricketts reduced the arrears shortly before half time while Mr Foy also saw QPR win well at Fratton Park. Kevin Gallen netted what he thought was a last minute winner, before Andy Myers put the game beyond doubt in a 3-1 win for Rangers.

In Rangers relegation season of 2000/01, Mr Foy presided over one Rangers game - the 1-1 draw away at Sheffield United. Sammy Koejoe's second half equaliser was cancelled out by an earlier effort by Blades' Shaun Murphy.

Once Rangers slipped through the trap door Mr Foy refereed only one game in the 2001/02 season, where Rangers held high-flying Brentford to a goal-less draw on the final day of the season. Brentford went on to lose the play-off final against Stoke City.

It was a whole season before the R's saw Mr Foy once more as he took charge of Rangers final home game of the season against Swindon Town, with Martin Rowlands' strike leaving things poised perfectly for Hillsborough glory.

The next clash saw Foy take charge of the R's defeat 1-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Michael Kightly netting the winning goal early in the second period, while Luigi De Canio's Rangers caused an upset by steam-rolling Watford at Vicarage Road.

They were three goals up in the first half with Martin Rowlands hitting a brace - Akos Buzsaky dispelling the anxiety to finish the game at 4-2, it was a high point in a tumultuous season for QPR.

Latterly he oversaw Gareth Ainsworth's first game in charge of Queens Park Rangers as they travelled to Reading. A battling display epitomised the caretaker boss as Rangers secured a goalless draw at the Madejski Stadium.
