The Men in Black - Scunthorpe United v QPR

EDDIE Ilderton from Tyne & Wear will take charge of QPR's clash against strugglers Scunthorpe United.

The official joined the National List of referees in 2002, and since then has refereed a handful of playoff fixtures while plying his trade at all levels of the Football League.

He has taken charge of Rangers on a few select occasions in his ten year stint as an official all of which are documented below.

Against the Iron he will be assisted by Glen Hart (County Durham) and Mark Sutton (Derbyshire) with the fourth official Richard Wigglesworth (South Yorkshire).

The only member of the officiating team to play a role in a QPR fixture this campaign is Hart - who was the fourth official as Rangers triumphed away at Middlesbrough.

Thus far this season Mr Ilderton has dished out 63 yellow cards and five reds in 31 games - giving him an average of 2.19 cards per game.

Refereeing Rangers

In what was billed as a battle of two of Division Two's front-running sides, Rangers travelled to the JJB Stadium in a bid to assert their position near the top of the table.

On a cold October evening Andy Liddell opened the scoring for the Latics before Andy Thomson pegged the scores level on the stroke of half time, as the R's held on for a point.

His had to wait six years for his next meeting with QPR and it was a daunting midweek trip to Barnsley. In truth it was a dour fixture at Oakwell that ended goaless.

It could have been better for the Tykes had István Ferenczi put away his guilt-edge chance, in the night that Britain and in particular Barnsley shook at the hands of an earthquake.

Fast forward to early 2010 and Mick Harford's QPR were in desperate need of a turn of fortunes, but came up dramatically short against a rampant Nottingham Forest.

A Robert Earnshaw brace was supported by strikes from Dexter Blackstock, Chris Cohen and James Perch as Rangers sunk to a disappointing defeat.
