Kenny's R New Record-holder!

When QPR won 1-0 away to Barnsley on Tuesday night - however nerve-wracking that win was - one thing was settled for certain. Paddy Kenny had now kept his 23rd clean sheet of the season - breaking the previous record of 22 clean sheets held by Phil Parkes (in the 1971/72 season - just before my time!)

Kenny was understandably thrilled to have pipped the legendary Rs' keeper, telling QPR.co.uk "It's a great record. Phil Parkes was a top, top keeper at this Club, so to beat his record is obviously something I am very proud of."

Kenny's best record, before this season, was 21 clean sheets with Sheffield United, so he is obviously chuffed with his own personal record-breaking achievement; although the Rs' keeper was quick to acknowledge the help of his team-mates: 'The whole team deserve credit though, because when I look back over the course of the season, there have been so many occasions when someone has produced a moment of brilliance to keep our goal intact,' Kenny admitted.

Neil Warnock has also heaped praise on Kenny, who he brought to QPR from Sheffield United for £750,000 last June, much to the disgust of the United fans: 'This is probably the record that satisfies me the most. Unless you keep clean sheets, you're not going to win as many matches as we have this season.

'Paddy deserves a lot of credit, but we defend as a team, from the front, and it's paid dividends so far this season,' Warnock continued.

Kenny - who I've nicknamed 'Persil' owing to the number of clean sheets he's kept (!) - is not satisfied with 23 though and has vowed to do his best in the final 5 games to add to his tally: 'There's five games to go and that means potentially another five clean sheets up for grabs. That's the target and hopefully we can achieve promotion in the process,' he promised.

Good luck, Persil - personally, I dont see why you can't improve on this tally!
