Smith Backs DJ To Succeed

Tommy Smith believes that DJ Campbell will make a mockery of his transfer fee as he bids to impress in the Premier League

The R's wide man played a crucial role in seeing the Champions across the finishing line against Watford and now believes they have invested in two excellent centre forwards.

Speaking to the Hammersmith & Fulham Chronicle he said: "DJ's a great signing and I think he will do very well for us.

"To score 13 goals last season in a relegated team speaks volumes about him, and I think he's a snip at the price.

"He's a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, which I think is invaluable.

"Obviously we want to stay up, and with Jay Bothroyd, who was in the England squad last year, and DJ up front there's definitely goals in our team."

The fee if 1.25m isn't the weightiest amount being bandied about by Premier League clubs this summer, but it could prove to be worth it's weight in gold if DJ's goals retain Rangers' Top flight status.
