The Men in Black - QPR v Rochdale

Referee Oliver Langford will take charge of Queens Park Rangers' Carling Cup test against League One side Rochdale.

The 28-year-old official from the West Midlands was promoted to the National List of Referees in 2008 and predominantly took charge of League Two games.

His first game in the Football League came at Spotland as Rochdale dispatched of Barnet 3-1 in August 2008. He dished out his first red cards as Gillingham and Brentford clashed at Priestfield.

In his first full season in the Football League he took charge of 26 games dishing out 58 bookings and three red cards.

He has upped his card average during this season already and despite not refereeing in the Championship, has taken charge of a second tier side in Nottingham Forest.

His first Championship test involved Queens Park Rangers as they took on Peterborough towards the beginning of the 2009/10 campaign - details of which can be found below.

Against Dale he will be assisted by Mr Warren Atkin (West Sussex) & Mr Geoff Russell (Northamptonshire) - the fourth official being Mr Lee Collins (Surrey).

Refereeing Rangers

The one and only QPR clash of his brief refereeing tenure came as Jim Magilton's Queens Park Rangers faced off against Championship new boys, Peterborough United.

Former QPR wide-man Tom Williams put in a tantalising cross for Aaron McLean to open the scoring, only for Wayne Routledge to equalise for the R's shortly before half time.

Four players were booked in a fairly mediocre encounter in W12, in which Mr Langford completed his first Championship fixture.

Mr Langford & Queens Park Rangers

QPR 1-1 Peterborough United - 12/09/2009
Goals: Wayne Routledge 34; Aaron McLean 16
Booked: Matt Connolly, Gary Borrowdale; Gabriel Zakuani, Shaun Batt
