Hughes: Cup Can Help Form

Mark Hughes is taking tomorrow's clash against Chelsea very seriously with a view to it having an impact on Premier League form.

The Rangers boss has had an excellent impact since taking charge as manager of QPR, with back to back home victories seeing confidence improve dramatically in W12.

Neil Warnock saw the exit door following a disappointing away draw with Milton Keynes Dons, where a replay was generous to say the least for the visiting side.

The win over MK Dons helped spur QPR onto an excellent 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic as they propelled themselves out of the bottom three.

Hughes told QPR.co.uk that while the Premier League is paramount, the FA Cup can have a useful bearing on form, as shown recently.

He said: 'We'll rate tomorrow's game highly because it's our next one - but I've always said that a cup run can help your league form.

'We benefited from beating MK Dons in the last round - it helped our confidence going into the league game.

'That factor has happened to me time and again in my career. A cup run, from my point of view, is never a bad thing.'

Hughes will be known well to Chelsea supporters, scoring 39 times in 123 games for the Blues.

However he also netted one of the four goals as Manchester United swept Chelsea aside in the 1994 FA Cup Final.
