Cook Brace Helps Reserves To 4-2 Victory

Lee Cook scored a brace to help QPR reserves beat Watford 4-2 at their London Colney training ground today. Marc Bircham took charge of the side in the absence of usual reserve team manager Ronnie Jepson and saw his side put in a promising display.

The Rs were 1-0 up inside 2 minutes after some tidy work from Angelo Balanta and Federico Macheda which eventually set up Lee Cook to slot home. Five minutes later and QPR had doubled the lead after a Balanta shot was parried into the path of Macheda who calmly placed the ball into the net.

The central defensive pairing of Dan Shittu and Peter Ramage kept Watford at bay throughout the first half; however The Hornets hit back early in the second half through a tidy finish from central midfielder Ross Jenkins. QPR replied almost instantly as Balanta was again at the heart of QPR`s attacking prowess as he set up Cook for his second of the game.

QPR took control of the game as youngsters Max Ehmer and Michael Doughty put in impressive displays at right back and central midfield respectively. A late goal from Watford`s Piero Mingoia put QPR under some late pressure but a wonder goal from man of the match Angelo Balanta put the game to bed.
