Defender Deal Confirmed

Defender Deal Confirmed

RYAN Nelsen has signed for Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer

The 34-year-old New Zealand international will join QPR from Tottenham Hotspur once his contract expires on July 1, 2012.

Nelsen was signed by Mark Hughes for Blackburn Rovers in 2005 before he moved on midway through last season for White Hart Lane.

He is the first confirmed signing of the summer with more expected to be announced by the club in the coming weeks.

Manager Hughes stated that Nelsen's experience will be invaluable to Rangers efforts in the forthcoming campaign.

He told QPR.co.uk: 'Ryan has got great experience in the Premier League and that is something our squad is lacking a little bit at present.

'He's a fantastic professional with a great work ethic and it will benefit the younger lads in the group to see how he goes about his work.'

Vital QPR welcomes Nelsen to the club and wishes him the very best of luck in an R's shirt!
