Dyer Gone, Nelsen Going

QUEENS Park Rangers announced the departure of Kieron Dyer and impending departure of Ryan Nelsen

Dyer, signed in the summer of 2011 on a free transfer, has been limited to five appearances for Rangers rather inevitably owing to injury. Whenever on the pitch Dyer has proved useful but his outings were all too fleeting.

He signed off in style with a fine equaliser against West Bromwich Albion to earn an FA Cup replay, as Harry Redknapp opted to activate a release clause in his one-year contract signed in the summer.

Nelsen meanwhile has decided to leave and pursue a managerial career with MLS side Toronto FC in a move that will see him terminate his playing career with QPR. Quite when this will happen is open to debate.

Redknapp is hoping to strengthen his defensive options, which many free up the defender who has a contract until the end of the season.

He has made 18 appearances for QPR since his free transfer move from Tottenham Hotspur - scoring once. He will be a big loss for Rangers, widely regarded as the most consistent player this season.

Have to say, Im surprised at Nelsen being allowed to leave, unless there was something in his initial contract that allowed him the right to decide. for me he has been your best defender and a wise head amongst often stupid and uninspired players. also Harry has always been a fan and it just seems it isnt a great time to offload your most imfluencial players. Perhaps this is also an indication of a new face arriving for your defence. William Gallas?

as for Dyer, such a shame that injuries blighted most of his career. he could have been world-class if things had gone better

I'm not sure whether we had any choice with Nelsen - unfortunately. He has kept our defence together brilliantly but I think we were always on borrowed time with him - in his own words he has glass knees and glass legs! As for Dyer, I am sorry it didn't work out for him - when he played he impressed me - but we can't afford to give a squad place to someone who is injured for 10 games, plays in 1 & then is injured again!
