Samba Confirmed By QPR

QUEENS Park Rangers have confirmed the capture of Congolese defender Christopher Samba.

The new QPR number five arrives from flush Russian outfit FC Anzhi Makhachkala, a side that includes former Barcelona front-man Samuel Eto'o.

QPR have stated that the deal is undisclosed, but have also stated that they have broken the club's transfer record - for the third time this season - to sign the man-mountain defender.

Formerly of Hertha Berlin and Blackburn Rovers - Mark Hughes' attempts to reunite with the defender were scuppered when he joined Anzhi after the English transfer window.

In the summer Rangers were put off by the high demands, but have elected to put faith in the capture of Samba to keep them alive in the Premier League.
