Harry Hails Tony In Samba Capture

HARRY Redknapp has praised chairman Tony Fernandes' part in bringing in Christopher Samba.

The R's boss spoke highly of his chairman in a deal he labelled as 'not possible' previously.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk Harry admitted his surprise in being able to capture the Congolese defender: 'This is an unbelievable signing.

'Tony Fernandes deserves a lot of credit for this one - he has worked so hard on bringing him in.

'I was speaking with him a month ago and he asked me who I would want to sign if Ryan Nelsen left, he asked me to give him a couple of names.'

He continued: 'I said to him, 'Well, these aren`t possible to get but if you're asking me who I'd have, I'll give you a couple of players.' One of them was Chris Samba.

'The next thing I know he's telling me that he's working on bringing him in! It's amazing.'

Harry described his influential new signing as 'a monster' and someone that most certainly could make an impact on Rangers' current situation.

Harry said: 'Chris is just what we need. He's a monster. Great in the air, quick, a leader, strong, fantastic in both boxes, hard as nails. He's a proper centre-half.'

Samba could be joined later today by more captures as a wealth of players are continually linked at Loftus Road.

Are you not slightly worried by your spending and whether you can afford the wages and transfer fees you're paying?

We are but the cost of relegation is worse. That's modern football for you. The whole concept of the Premier League, when it started, was about taking all the money into the top flight and stuff everyone else. As a result, teams who are there, will do everything to stay there!
