'If It's Football, It's Vital'

One to Watch - Robert Snodgrass

Name: Robert Snodgrass

Date of Birth: 7/9/1987

Nationality: Scotland

Former Clubs: Livingston, Stirling, Leeds

League Appearances (Goals): 282 (59)

International Appearances (Goals): 8 (1)

Stat of the Day: Robert Snodgrass has scored in four of his last six away appearances for Norwich City

Player Profile: Robert Snodgrass has arguably been the pick of the bunch involved in the Leeds to Norwich exodus and despite a slow start to his career at Carrow Road, the midfielder is finally finding his feet in the Premier League. Admittedly those feet are largely dependent on the left side, but his extreme close control and deadly delivery has made him a frontrunner in the Norwich City Player of the Year stakes. The Scotland international has the desire to beat oncoming defenders, and what he lacks in pace, he makes up for in flair and imagination.

As a youngster Snodgrass was the jewel in the crown, but it was reportedly his off-the-field troubles that had the potential to ruin his talent. It was only a brief loan spell at Stirling Albion that turned the tables for the winger and he has seldom looked back since. Snodgrass` main strength is his set-pieces; some cracking free kicks this season have been the highlight of his Norwich career thus far.

Player History: Snodgrass` career began in his homeland with Livingston FC back in 2004/2005. After joining the club as a youngster, he made his debut two days after his 17th birthday and, having allegedly turned down a trial with Barcelona, scored six goals in 42 appearances in his first two seasons before sustaining a broken metatarsal. Upon recovering, he spent a brief loan spell at Stirling Albion, scoring five goals in 12 league games, before returning to Livingston for a final season to notch nine times in 31 matches.

In 2008 Snodgrass made his way to Elland Road to play under fellow-Scot Gary McAllister and was a virtual ever-present during his four years at the Yorkshire club. The Scot featured in 168 league games, returning 35 goals and 35 assists, though his form in the 2011/2012 season is indicative of his potential; 13 goals and 15 assists in 43 Championship appearances earned him both the Players and Fans Player of the Year accolades. Snodgrass has played for his country at Under 19, 20 and 21 level and has also made eight appearances for the senior side, scoring his only goal against Denmark in August 2011.
