Player Rating - 12. Jamie Mackie

Player Rating - 12. Jamie Mackie

Appearances: 33
Goals: 2

There are few certainties in football, but put Jamie Mackie on a pitch and you're certain to get a performance brimming with effort - albeit with varying degrees of quality of outcome.

Mackie is unquestionably one of the more reliable members of the squad in terms of application and at times that influence has been underused on the pitch.

When he has been utilised however, the level of quality just isn't there to see him maintain a persistent charge for either a centre forward or a wide-man.

It is a frustration considering the sheers levels of effort expended by Mackie, that he cannot hold down a first team place, or indeed do what's necessary to keep him in the frame.

He could prove very useful once more in the Championship, where previously he lit the touch paper for a memorable season the last time Rangers were down there.

Rating: 6/10

If you think Hill & Derry deserved a better rating than Taarabt and Mackie was his equal I suggest you find a different sport to follow as you clearly don't understand football. You seem to be unable disassociate your empathy for aging players who "will die for the cause" from players who are actually going to have some input into winning a game. Hill was responsible for nearly all the goals scored against when he played due to his penchant for dropping back 5 metres when the opposition had possession and putting the whole defence under pressure and I am fairly sure QPR didn't score when Derry played.
