Walking Wounded
Ray Jones is nursing a knee injury picked up in the last 15mins of the Southampton match and will miss out on his chance to shine in the England Under 19 games coming up. The club are hoping to have him fit it time for the home game with Norwich on Oct 14th. Gareth Ainsworth and Egutu Oliseh are making good progress from recent injuries and could both be available for selection shortly. Dominic Shimmin has also stepped up his progress but will need to get some reserve team action before John Gregory can run the rule on the ex Arsenal youngster. Lastly, Marc Nygaard struggles with yet another injury and is rated as 50/50 to be available for the Canaries clash whilst he recovers from a hamstring injury picked up in Gary Waddock's last game in charge in our 3-2 defeat to Port Vale in the cup.
Out of favour??
It has been reported that Nick Ward needs to 'learn to adapt' to the English game and step up his fitness. Ward has yet to set the world alight after his high profile signing and sources at the club feel he is in need of time to improve before John Gregory considers him for selection. There have been rumours of him being loaned to Sheff Utd with a view to a permanent move but this rumour seems well wide of the mark! However, it seems Mauro Milanese, Jake Cole and Adam Czerkas are three players who have not impressed Gregory and we await further developments there??
Loan Rangers
Our loan out players are having mixed fortunes at the moment. Stefan Moore grabbed his first goal for Port Vale last Saturday and it seems that Rangers have agreed an extension to Moore's move by allowing the player a further month away from W12. Ian Evatt was taken off in Blackpool's 3-0 win with a head injury and reports 'up north' say he has not quite set the world alight. Tommy Doherty started for Wycombe in their 2-1 defeat but has also had spells on the subs bench since he was loaned out.
The Rumour Mill
Unconfirmed reports coming from Loftus Road suggest that John Gregory is using the 2 week fixture break to tie up a loan deal for a left sided defender possibly from the Premiership?? More soon.....
