QPR ponder Royce appeal

Rangers may appeal against the red card given to goalkeeper Simon Royce during Monday night's defeat to Coventry

Royce was sent off after bringing down Gary McSheffrey, who scored with the resulting penalty to give the Sky Blues victory.

But Rangers believe they may have a case to challenge the decision, which if allowed to stand would see Royce suspended.

Boss Ian Holloway said: 'I don't think he should have been sent off. For me a penalty was enough punishment.'

If Royce serves a ban, Holloway expects to field young keeper Jake Cole, who came on as a substitute after Royce's dismissal.

Cole, making his senior debut, was unable to keep out McSheffrey's spot-kick.

'The rules are that we're not allowed to bring in a keeper to sit on the bench,' Holloway explained.

'Jake Cole is a professional so we're not able to bring in anyone else.'
