Break Comes At The Right Time For QPR - Baptiste

Queens Park Rangers defender Alex Baptiste has said he believes the international break has come at the right time for the players.

With the September period seeing QPR winless in five games going back to the victory over Ipswich Town earlier in the month, we did return three draws and Baptiste told the Official Site that a brief respite from action and a chance to work on things on the training ground, he's confident the side will bounce back when football returns and start returning more points based on what he feels have been good performances.

'I think there have been a lot of missed opportunities. We`ve played really well and I feel like our performances haven`t got what they deserved. I personally felt we were the better team last Tuesday and Friday, but we`ve only got one point to show for it so we`ve got to learn from that - we need to convert those performances into points.'

The fixture computer giving us six games in 20 days, he knew the break had come at the right time for people to recharge their batteries and freshen up.

'It was hard playing three games in six days, the Thursday after the Tuesday game I was in bits and I`m only getting older so I have to learn how to look after my body but to honest during the games I feel fine. It`s been tough but I feel okay, I know how to look after myself. I feel I`m doing a decent job of maintaining my fitness.'

He went on to add.

'I feel the international break has come at the right time for us. There`s no denying Friday hurt but now we can get fitter, analyse a few things and look to go again.'

Having joined over the summer, Baptiste had to be patient to get his chance in the first team, and injuries to Nedum Onuoha and James Perch have given him his chance. The 31 year old feels he's grabbed his chance with both hands.

'I feel like I`ve done okay so hopefully I can continue with my performances. Obviously a month ago I wasn`t playing and we were doing very well so you do start to think how I am going to get into this team, but during a season injuries and other things happen that give you an opportunity.'

He also spoke about how he's settling into life at the club.

'It`s been good. I really like the setup at Loftus Road with how tight it is and how it allows our fans to get on top of the opposition - it makes for a really good atmosphere. I just hope we can now climb up this league - for me there`s nothing to fear and I feel we have a good chance of having a really good season.'
