Perch Looking For First Team Return

Perch Looking For First Team Return

Queens Park Rangers' James Perch has set his sights on a first team return having played his first 90 minutes since suffering a serious knee injury.

After four and a half months on the sidelines after dislocating his kneecap, Perch got 90 minutes under his belt in the Under 23 game against Charlton Athletic.

He helped the side to a five one victory on Monday.

Speaking to the Official Site Perch said he felt good and he was looking for a way back into Ian Holloway's side as soon as he could manage it.

'It was nice to be back out there. I've been back training for a few weeks, but because of the nature of the injury I've had to be patient and pick the right time to get back out there playing. It's been about four and a half months since the injury, which is a long time out, so it felt great to be playing again. It's not an injury you can rush back from and it might be that the physios think I need another 90 minutes with the 23's, but I'm glad to be back. I feel good. I feel fit. I just need to work on my match-fitness now.'

With such a long time out, Perch admitted that it had been frustrating and it was his longest spell out with an injury so far.

'It's been very frustrating. I haven't been sidelined for this long as a pro. I've missed quite a lot of football during that time, and I'm the kind of player who just wants to play week in, week out, so it's been quite hard to not be involved.'

Adding.

'It's weird how many defensive injuries we've had this season, with me, Chief, Lynchy and Hally all out for spells. But we're all back now and that competition can only help us in the second half of the season.'
